What this tool does
SQL Formatter helps with format SQL statements into a consistent readable structure. Use the SQL Formatter tool when you need this operation in a browser without installing another application. The page explains the supported input and gives explicit feedback when an input cannot be processed.
How to use it
Paste sql into the input area. Use Load example to try a known demonstration before substituting your own data. Review the SQL dialect controls; these settings affect the operation and should match your intended workflow. Select Process and inspect the result. Copy it or download the text result when you are satisfied.
Start with a small, representative input so that the result is easy to inspect. Keep a copy of the original before changing or exporting anything. If the output will be used in a production workflow, compare it with the expected behavior in that system rather than assuming a successful conversion proves correctness.
Understanding the result
Formats SQL text only; no database connection or execution occurs.
A result reflects the supplied input and selected settings. An empty finding list, a missing optional property or a valid syntax result can be useful, but each has a limited meaning. Review messages and individual fields in context. Where the tool creates configuration, a command or a document, open or inspect the output before replacing an existing file.
Privacy and practical limits
Processing runs locally in your browser. Tool inputs and document contents are not sent to site analytics. Copy and download actions happen only when you request them; clipboard contents and downloaded files can contain sensitive data.
Text is limited to 100,000 characters, structured inputs have depth and collection limits, and processing is stopped after 15 seconds. Reduce unusually large or complex data if processing fails. Use Clear to discard the displayed input and result, or cancel an in-progress operation.
Before using an export
Confirm that the output belongs to the correct source and that important fields, page order or values match your intention. Save the source separately for future edits. When collaborating, share only the portion needed for the task, especially when logs, credentials or personal metadata are involved. The guide and tool describe a focused operation and cannot establish the correctness of an entire application or document.
Example input
select users.id, users.name from users where active = true order by users.name;
